Nakia Walker

Treasurer, Desert Harmony Foundation

Nakia Walker brings a powerful blend of resilience, leadership, and creative vision to her role as Treasurer of the Desert Harmony Foundation. Raised in Detroit, she developed a strong foundation in education and the arts early in life, excelling academically while earning first chair clarinet and exploring her passion for music through singing, songwriting, and performance.

Guided by the entrepreneurial spirit instilled by her mother, Nakia built a career rooted in business administration, holding positions within law schools, law firms, and executive offices. Her ability to lead, organize, and negotiate at a high level became a defining strength that she later carried into the entertainment industry.

Nakia’s passion for the arts extended beyond her own talents into developing others. She managed and helped launch her daughter’s early performance career, which gained recognition under the name “Baby T,” and later served as a Performing Arts Teacher and Assistant Principal within the Career Success Charter School District. During this time, she co-created and produced multiple stage productions in collaboration with established dance and performance groups.

In 2009, Nakia took on the management of legendary artist Earl “DMX” Simmons, forming Built for War Management. In this role, she balanced the demands of high-level artist management with her ongoing commitment to family and creative development, demonstrating exceptional strength and adaptability.

Despite experiencing profound personal losses, including the passing of both DMX in 2021 and her daughter in 2023, Nakia has continued to move forward with purpose. She has since authored three books and co-written, directed, and produced a film, further expanding her creative and professional reach.

Today, Nakia focuses on real estate, mediation, natural wellness products, and public speaking—leading seminars, panels, and workshops designed to help others build balanced, healthy, and successful lives. Her personal philosophy is reflected in her “M8” framework: Mother, Mediator, Manager, Minister, Motivator, Mentor, Musician, and Mixologist—representing her commitment to making a meaningful impact across every area of life.

At Desert Harmony Foundation, Nakia brings not only financial oversight, but lived experience, creative insight, and a deep dedication to community empowerment—helping guide the organization’s mission to create healthier, more connected, and sustainable communities.
